Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
More support than a weekly appointment, without leaving your life behind: several structured sessions a week combining group work, individual therapy and medical care.
Schedule an AppointmentAbout this service
IOP provides a higher level of structure and therapeutic support than traditional weekly care without requiring hospitalization or stepping completely away from work, school, family, and daily life.
Structure, 3-5 days per week
A fixed schedule of group sessions, individual therapy and clinical review. More support to change the trajectory of a difficult period.
The whole team, not one clinician
Psychiatry, therapy and functional medicine stay involved throughout, working from one shared plan.
Skills you keep
Evidenced based tools from CBT and DBT are combined with practices that support emotional and nervous system regulation, resilience, and healthy daily patterns practiced together and applied in real life.
A planned exit
IOP is a focused level of care with a clear transition plan as you gain stability, skills, and confidence. We help you step back into weekly care with a plan for what comes next.

How a visit works
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

After an intake and clinical review, you join a small cohort and follow a set weekly schedule: group skills sessions, individual therapy, and medication review with a prescriber. Family sessions are included where they help. Progress is tracked with the same standardized measures we use elsewhere in the clinic, and the plan is adjusted in the weekly team review rather than at the end. As symptoms stabilize, days step down until you transition to weekly outpatient care.
Often the Right Level For
- Severe depression
- Severe anxiety
- Post-crisis stabilization
- Emotional dysregulation
- Substance use challenges
- Any substance or mental health concern that limits daily function
- Weekly outpatient care is not providing the right level of support
- Symptoms interfering with work, school, relationships or self care
Who this is for
- Symptoms too severe for weekly therapy but not requiring hospital admission
- Patients stepping down after an inpatient stay
- Anyone whose progress keeps stalling between weekly appointments
- Adults able to commit to a fixed weekly schedule for several weeks
What to know before you start
- It is a real time commitment. Nine to fifteen hours a week, on a fixed schedule
- Group work is central; some of the change happens in the room with others
- This is not emergency or inpatient care. In a crisis, call or text 988
- We will refer out when detox or a higher level of care is needed first
