My path to becoming a counselor wasn’t exactly conventional. After a life-threatening injury during my military service, I found myself dealing with chronic pain, addiction, and a lot of questions about what makes people change. My own recovery journey gave me a front-row seat to both the struggles of addiction and the incredible capacity people have to heal and grow. Those experiences ultimately led me to this work.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), I have worked in residential treatment, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), helping people navigate addiction, mental health challenges, trauma, and major life transitions. While I enjoy working with a wide range of clients, I have a special connection with veterans and individuals working to overcome substance use disorders.

My style is real, direct, and down-to-earth. I don’t believe therapy should feel like a lecture or a conversation filled with clinical jargon. I try to meet people where they are, understand their unique story, and help them make sense of what’s getting in the way. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), along with tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). At the core of my approach is a simple belief: awareness is the foundation of change. When we can clearly see what’s happening, we can start doing something about it.

One of my favorite parts of being a counselor is helping someone connect dots they hadn’t connected before. Whether it’s recognizing a pattern, understanding where a behavior comes from, or seeing a situation from a different angle, those moments of insight can be powerful. My goal is for clients to leave each session with something useful, whether that’s a new perspective, a practical tool, or simply feeling a little better than when they walked in.

When I’m not counseling, you’ll usually find me outside. I love trail running, hunting, camping, fishing, and exploring Colorado with my Australian Shepherd, Charlee. I compete in ultramarathons, spend more time than I probably should playing pool, and regularly disappear down neuroscience and psychology rabbit holes trying to better understand the human mind.
