I’d love to partner and assist you with your journey to wholeness and reaching your fullest potential; mentally, physically, and spiritually. I will provide a wealth of cross-disciplinary services including making medical and psychiatric diagnoses, when appropriate; conducting various physical and mental health assessments; designing individualized, holistic treatment plans; prescribing psychopharmaceuticals, complementary and other medications, as necessary; offering psychotherapy of various modalities; consulting with other healthcare professionals; and educating you on optimal practices to promote psychological health and well-being. Above all, I offer integrative care with continuing thought to the mind-body-spirit connection. Physical health, nutrition, sleep hygiene and social supports are all essential to mental wellness. My particular passion is in working with adults who have experienced trauma, addiction, or ADHD.
After spending almost two decades working in the mental health field, I believe what truly leads to health is not just prescribing the medication, it is how well I listen and connect to your words and your heart and then communicating back true understanding. Together we will find the least invasive treatment approach and go slow. I can help you develop lifestyle changes and work together towards your life goals. We will build on your strengths, developing healthier coping skills and breaking those self-defeating patterns; healing the whole person, who will then be able to achieve your optimum health.
For the last 10 years I successfully managed an integrated behavioral health program in a community health medical clinic working with chronically and acutely mentally ill; schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, and obsessive/compulsive disorders. I also worked with those in addiction with drugs, alcohol, tobacco, food, and sex. Additionally, I have experience with in-patient mental health, medication-assisted therapy for opioid addiction and the treatment of sex offenders and their families. From working with these clients, I felt there was something missing in my ability to fully treat the whole person, which fostered my decision to return to school to become a PMHNP. During my time in the program, I developed a love for integrative psychiatry, a blending the best of conventional and complementary treatments and practices to the specific needs of the client.
I am certified by two national boards, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a PMHNP and the National Association of Social Worker (NASW) as an Independent Clinical Social Worker. I have training in a wide range of therapeutic evidence based and holistic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindful-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Internal Family Systems Model (IFS), hypnotherapy, breathwork, and drama therapy.
I hold a BA in human services from Western Washington University, a MS in clinical social work from University of Washington, and a MS in nursing. I have membership with American Psychiatric Nurses Association, American Nurses Association and CO Nurses Association, Colorado Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses, Neuroscience Educational Institute, and the National Association of Social Workers.
A recent transplant to Fort Collins from Washington State, in my spare time I enjoy traveling, knitting, cooking, gardening, cheering on the Seahawks, and spending time outdoors. I am very excited to be part of The Wholeness Center and am proud to work with such a fantastic team of practitioners.
