As each state grapples with whether or not to legalize the use of medicinal plants for the

treatment of common ailments, mis-information about cannabidiol (CBD) often abounds.

Not sure what to believe about CBD?

Dr. Nicole Lewis, a Naturopathic Doctor at Wholeness, debunks the most common myths around the use of CBD as a treatment option and why you should reconsider what you think you already know. (Check out Dr. Nicole’s provider page HERE and read our June blog feature about her HERE)

MYTH # 1: CBD IS A FAD AND DOES NOT HAVE THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL

Dr. Nicole Lewis says: “With the rise of MLM CBD companies, many people are rolling their eyes at the thought of using CBD therapeutically. The use of CBD has skyrocketed, which on many levels is a positive thing. I think there is huge potential for certain people to benefit from CBD as part of their larger treatment plan.”

MYTH # 2: CBD IS THE MAGIC BULLET! IT CURES OR TREATS EVERYTHING!

Dr. Nicole Lewis says: “It does not. Everyone deserves their own individualized treatment plan. Just because CBD worked to improve your neighbors sleep, doesn’t mean it will work for you. Especially if you are not continuing to identify and address the underlying cause. There is no magic bullet. CBD can be a beautiful addition to a well-rounded treatment plan.”

MYTH # 3: I TRIED ONE CBD PRODUCT AND IT DIDN’T WORK, SO NONE OF THEM WILL WORK

Dr. Nicole Lewis says: “There are many different products. It is possible the product you chose to treat your ailment was not the right product. It is also possible that not enough time was given for the product to work. When using natural medicines, it can take time to see the full effect.”
